The Friday Hub well-being cafe started in January 2023, as a monthly safe space where vulnerable people (e.g. those with mental and/or physical ill health) could meet to make friends & socialise, take part in arts activities, and access information & support from external agencies and trained Hub volunteers.
The cafe takes place twice a month at Church House on the second and last Friday of every month, 1pm – 4pm, and is free of charge.
Local artist Amanda Lawford provides inspiration at the art table from 2pm each session. Activities can be anything from silk painting, felting, painting, drawing or a combination of several. We have lots of arts and crafts supplies available.
We also have jigsaws, board games, scrabble, dominoes, newspapers and more. You can also just relax with a drink and a chat.
Hot drinks and biscuits are provided, and its all free of charge.
Initial funding for this project came from The Two Ridings Foundation, Grassington Friendship Group, and the Transforming Community Mental Health Craven (VCS) programme.
